Benefits of Beeswax Cheese Wraps

In an effort to reduce our plastic usage, we sell Beeswax Cheese Wraps (goodbye cling film!). Learn more about the benefits of using beeswax cheese wraps at home below and while you’re here, why not give them a try?

  1. Keeps Food Fresher– Beeswax wraps are breathable which will keep your food fresher for longer, whereas plastic will accelerate mould growth.
  2. Reusable– Beeswax can be washed under cold water and mild detergent and then left to drip dry. If washed properly, beeswax can last up to 1 year.
  3. Multi-use– Beeswax can be used to wrap a variety of fresh produce including cheese, fruit, vegetables and bread.
  4. Easy to use– Wrap the beeswax around food or bowls to allow them to grip and hold. The warmth from your hands will allow the wrap to mold nicely over.
  5. Freezer friendly– You’ll be pleased to know that our wraps are freezer friendly and can be kept in the freezer for up to 1 month at a time.
  6. Antibacterial– Beeswax has natural antibacterial and antimicrobial properties like honey, which makes them ideal for us with food.
  7. 100% biodegradable– Not only are beeswax wraps biodegradable but they’re also compostable! Switching to use beeswax wraps at home will help fight plastic pollution.
  8. Economical– As beeswax wraps can be washed and reused for up to one year, they are a better alternative to plastic and you will save yourself some money at the same time!
  9. Cheese’s best friend!– As cheese is a living thing- by wrapping it in plastic, it restricts its oxygen intake. As a result, it will develop an ammoniac flavour and risks developing harmful bacteria.
  10. 100% natural– The wraps are made from GOTS certified organic cotton, organic jojoba oil, tree resin and British beeswax.
