With the nice weather upon us – for a little while at least – here are two pictures from Calon Wen meadows. The first is an orchid found on Argoed Farm from Stuart Taylor. The second is a Goldfinch on thistle sent in to us from Dave Edge at Cophouse Farm.
I have a life long interest in wild flowers, encouraged in my childhood, home village,in Lancashire,on the now, West Penine Moors, in the 1950’s. The above Orchid found by Stewart Taylor on Argoed farm is beautiful and must have been a real pleasure to spot.
My father Stanley Taylor was in fact born and farmed on the Argoed Farm and was Stewart’s great uncle 1904/1955.
Small world.
